Rival Hotel
Rival Hotel is a small boutique hotel that offers a great selection of bistro, bars and lounge areas, as well as a host of hi-tech amenities. The hotel caters both to discerning business travelers and leisure travelers looking for that little something extra.
I wanted my hotel for country number one hundred to be special and I definitely got my wish! Rival Hotel is located in the Mariatorget area of Stockholm, just a three-minute ride on the T (metro) to the Old Town and five-minute ride to Stockholm Central Station. The Mariatorget neighborhood is very cool and trendy with tons of great stores. In fact, it was one of my favorite areas of town when I first visited Stockholm so I was very glad to be back!
Rival Hotel has a modern feel but also one that is very unique and it really stands out as one of the coolest design focused hotels that I have stayed at. The staff at the front desk were all very welcoming and I really enjoyed talking with them, especially Raquel and Richard. I arrived in the evening and was given a great room with a view of Mariatorget park.
My room was fantastic! I loved all of the little quirks that made it so special. Some of my favorites were the teddy bear on the shelf, the DVD collection to choose from, the sound system that piped audio into the bathroom, the shades that separated the room from the bathroom, and the awesome lighting! The lighting or the audio were probably my favorite parts though I really enjoyed every aspect of the room. I really appreciated all of the technology integration!
The perks extended to the hotel as a whole as well. I had a really tasty omelet breakfast while watching the snow fall on the park. I loved not only the design of my room but the entire hotel was so unique. There was also a free coffee and water station that was so nice!
I had a perfect stay at Rival Hotel, and was sad that I was only able to stay one night in Stockholm as I would have loved to experience the hotel even more! I felt so welcomed throughout my stay and absolutely adored everything about the design of the hotel. It was such a cool spot, with a trendy location, and I couldn’t have asked for a better hotel for my one hundredth country!
